Goin' to Ghana

Well it’s official. After unpacking all my bags from college and immediately repacking them for the Media in Ghana study abroad course, I am on my way to Accra. While the beginning of my summer was a a great vacation from the frantic work of finals week, these last couple days have thrown me right back into that non-stop, hustle and bustle lifestyle.

While packing probably should have been my greatest concern, I was mostly focused on my MacBook. Over the last couple of months I have been drooling over the release of Apple’s Final Cut Pro X. This great beast was supposed to revolutionize the way people edit movies; so of course I was intently awaiting its arrival. In the meantime, I was getting by editing movies for a US Men’s Rowing project (a group from the J School is building them a website which should be up soon at usmensrowing.com) on friends computers and computers in the Apple Store. But finally, two days ago, Final Cut Pro X (FCPX) was released and quickly followed by a wave of terrible reviews. So, long story short, I decided not to get FCPX and tried to get an earlier version of the program which Apple had discontinued with the FCPX release. So, deciding to go ahead and get FCPX, I tried to update my software, which the Apple Store decided not to have in stock. So now I have no software, no FCPX, but I did get packed and I am still going to Ghana, which really still makes up for everything else.

So tomorrow, at this time, Ghana time, I will be in Accra. I hope all the other students coming the following day have a great trip and I will see everyone in Africa!
