I’m the first of the Obroni’s to leave on Saturday, but this is the last chance I’ll have at “fast” internet until I land back in the United States so I’m writing a farewell post a little ahead of schedule.

Ghana, thanks for the rollercoaster ride. You’ve given me some amazing memories: letting me stand under the tallest waterfall on your continent, filling my mouth with all sorts of new tastes and smells (some good and some questionable), giving me an adventure each day on your tro-tro’s, presenting me with a Bull as a gift in Tamale (really, you’re too kind), and showing me a side of humanity that warms my heart to full capacity (friendly Ghanaians & happy kids). You’ve been a little cunning though, Ghana. I could have gone without falling in the gutter in OSU with Joe & Garth, however funny it was, and getting sick for the second time… Now that was just mean. Splitting my toe nail in half while running out to take a bucket shower, well, I guess I have no one to blame but myself for that one. Overall though, I gotta hand it to you, you gave me one of the best experiences of my life and for that, I thank you kindly.

I’ll take a new perspective on the world when I come back to the United States. My motto coming back home, “Don’t sweat the small stuff.”

So cheers to you, Ghana, Chana, Obibini land, and whatever other nickname we’ve given you.

Courtney, this picture is for you. <3
