I rode the tro tro for the first time today. Somehow, I managed to avoid it for nearly two weeks (thanks to Leslie and the bus). Casey and I are lucky, our internship at Emerge Advertising Ltd. is very close to the house, only about fifteen minutes. Some of my peers have to transfer tro tros two or three times before they reach their destination, but we only have to hop on one tro tro and take it straight down the main road.

Based on my first impression, the tro tro system is one of organized chaos. There are no timetables, no tickets, no safety precautions. Once the tro tro arrives, the floodgates open and people pack in like sardines. It’s not my preferred mode of transportation, but it’s certainly an interesting experience.
