Africa is often presented to the western world as an unknown country. Yes, it is wrongfully seen as a continent where everyone is the same. A topic that angers most, the misconception of what and who resides across the Atlantic Ocean reaches far beyond the passed-down knowledge the youth receives. Western media and academia both hold responsibility in their failure to educate and illuminate Africa and its 54 countries.
Furthermore, Africa, specifically the sub-Saharan nations, is chained to the hideous stereotype placed by the outside world, that is, all nations and its people are poor, uneducated, and short of the western civilization standards of living. To the contrary, some of the world’s hottest commodities originate from the sacred land. This contradicts the stereotype completely and many examples can prove such. To the western countries, your Zoo’s are nothing if it weren’t for the nations that reside in Central Africa, your diamonds cannot be bought without the rich soil of South Central Africa, and your fur and ivory tusks could not exceed your antique and fashion expectations without Western and Eastern Africa. This continent unites under its natural richness it was born with.
Flags are not the only establishment that separates the various peoples of Africa. One must dig deeper to realize that many ethnicities can be found in just one country let alone an entire continent. Therefore, many cultures and languages can be seen and heard in Ghana alone.
