We went to the art center and art gallery last Saturday and saw many beautiful art crafts and paintings made by local artists. The art paintings combining local cultural signs and symbols reflect Ghanaian historical and cultural context. These artworks show us a realistic world of Ghana as a mirror of real life.
I bought a beautiful wooden drum and a wooden elephant craft with beads in the art center. Our friend Clement played the Ghana music using that drum for us. The music was particularly upbeat and infectious and we really enjoyed the drum music.
I also tried different local food this week such as Fufu, Banku, and Bofrot. My colleagues told me about many restaurants where I could have great local specialties. Even though I have only worked in Penplusbytes for two weeks, I really like the working culture here because everyone enjoys the work and really wants to do something for the people and community in Ghana.
We also had a wonderful experience with fabric this week. We had an amazing seamstress who can make beautiful wax fabric clothes for us and we visited Bonwire to see Asante Kente hand-weaving fabric in Kumasi at the end of the week.
Hi Stella! I would have loved to experience Clement play the drum!
