Stories Through a Lens: The Corporate World

On set
After a week of exploring Accra and a trip to Cape Coast, we were harshly reminded by a 6 a.m. alarm that we are here in Ghana for an internship. I began spending my days at Innova DDB, a Ghanaian ad agency. So far production shoots have been the highlight of my time. Innova is currently working on campaign for MoMo a Venmo like digital payment form. For this campaign they are going to the streets of Accra to find real shop owners using MoMo. In this photo, I framed the production team from the inside of a mechanics work bay as the workers were photographed outside.

The camera
During a production shoot, I captured this photo of the photographer using a towel to shield the camera screen from the sun. When I take photos, I have this feeling that I am hidden from the world and am looking through the view finder as if it is a one way mirror. Additionally, when you see a photo, you only see what the photographer was seeing, their identity is a mystery. I love this photo because I think it visually captures that obscura of the camera in an exaggerated way.

Power Outage
At 10:37am all the power in the office of Innova DDB went out. I looked around startled as my eyes adjusted to the darkness. I was expecting some sort of reaction, perhaps some complaints or announcement, even an exclamation of surprise, but there was nothing. Conversations and work continued without interruption. The room was engulfed with a warm cinematic lighting so I pulled out my camera and took a photo of Fredrick, one of the firms designers, framed in the office window.
