After being back in the U.S. for a couple days now, I’m starting to realize that my days felt like they had a lot more purpose in Ghana. Whether I was at work or out at a restaurant, I always felt like I was learning something new. I was making it my goal to learn as much as I could about the culture around me while being respectful.

Now that I am in the U.S. everything is back to “normal.” I am back in my parent’s house; in the town I grew up in. It’s hard to not let the memories and experiences of Ghana slip away as I get comfortable in my old routine.

As I was driving home the other day, I threw on my Ghana playlist and blasted the music. I started dancing in my car and teared up realizing I may never be back in Ghana. I made it my goal to keep what I learned from Ghana alive in my home. I am going to dance more, learn more about the people around me, and always always welcome people with open arms
