We did a natural exploration on our last weekend in Ghana. We went to Wli Agumatsa Waterfalls, Afadjato Mountain, a monkey sanctuary, and Lake Volta in the Volta region. As the highest waterfall in Ghana, the Wli waterfall is quite spectacular. The water is clear, and people can swim in the lake under the waterfall. Not birds but bats hover over the rocks above the waterfall. The Mona monkeys in the monkey sanctuary belong to a unique species of monkeys that only live in Ghana and Cameroon in West Africa.

As the largest human-made lake in the world, Lake Volta plays an important role in Ghana. At sunset in the afternoon, we took a boat tour of the lake to explore the landscape. Surrounded by lush trees and flocks of birds, watching the afterglow of the sunset reflected on the lake, the view of the lake tour is intoxicating.

During the trip, it was my first time to eat Abolo, which is a special local food in the Volta region and is super good. We also tried different soups of Fufu, Banku, and Kenkey this time. Tasting and learning local specialties and traditional food is an important part of understanding culture and customs, also economic and social structure.
